Capulana

So Seth has been super excited about baby Ella and its so adorable. I love it. Last night he was talking about carrying her with him in a sling. After practicing with the blanket he remembered he had brought some authentic ones back home from Africa. In Africa the sling is called a "capulana". Good thing Diesel is a good sport because Seth wanted to practice.
And today he is in the process of hand crafting and sewing his own "capulana". He wants it to have a burlap outside with a soft and girlie lining. Its looking interesting now but I know it will be pretty cool when its done.

Ella's First Outfit

Mom and I went shopping of course the very next day. Some of the shopping was for me since I am starting to pop a little more, the clothes are getting a little snugger. But most importantly was the outfit for Ella. We were at Old Navy and Mom picked her out her first denim and I picked her out some pink converse. So little, so cute. We had fun shopping together, wish we lived closer.

Grand Ole Opry

We had tickets to attend the Grand Ole Opry with my parents. It's one of those things I think that you are suppose to do in Nashville. It was a fun night. First we took them to the Rose Pepper, a fun, local Mexican restaurant in East Nashville with the best margaritas, really ever. We had fun at dinner and then headed to the show, I was the DD of course. I guess I had to "un-retire" that for now for the baby, its ok though, she is worth it.
The show that night was a lot of fun. We had great seats and saw some talented legends play that night. During part of the show Seth and my Dad said they think they knew why it was called the Grand "OLD" Opry. ha ha Silly boys. It was still a lot of fun. We did get to see Terry Clark and Diamond Rio perform, both very good. It was a great evening out.

Today is the big day. March 11, 2011

My parents got into town late last night. The arrived in style as always and showed up in the RV. It was a long trip for them through the mountains and the yucky weather, but they made it. Today we went to have our gender ultrasound, a special treat from my parents. We got to the place that had a big screen on the wall with a couch sitting in front of it for my parents. I laid down in the back on a bed and Seth sat next to me. The tech dimmed the lights and squirted the gel on my belly saying first we will look for the baby's heartbeat. However, apparently baby had other plans and was up and rearing, literally, to reveal the gender and within about 10 seconds the tech had written on the screen and nonchalantly announced what the baby was. I was still looking for the heartbeat and Dad said he was waiting for popcorn, and well there it was. Our baby is going to be.........A GIRL!!! =)  It took a minute or two to sink in and once I could see her little heart fluttering we all were so excited and emotional as you can imagine. Seth and I are so happy, he is so sweet. It was such a fun experience and special that my parents could be there too. Lucky for us that it is a girl since that is the only name we could agree on. Her name will be Ella Rose Cain.
My Mom and I had gone to a cake decorating class earlier that morning. It was a lot of fun. The class ended up just being the two of us which was really cool. We had a lot of fun. My mom made a special cake that morning before we knew the gender of the baby. She did a beautiful job.

18 Weeks March 10, 2011

This week is exciting because my parents will be here over the weekend. We can't wait. The baby keeps growing and its awesome, there is no hiding the bump now, so fun. The baby is as big as a sweet potato. I had a funny craving this week. So I have been wanting Chick Fil-A all week and haven't really had much luck locating one that was an appropriate driving distance away. A friend at work who's wife had a baby not too long ago said that necessary cravings really should not be any further than a five mile drive for your husband. =) Lucky for me I found a Chick Fil-A downtown, the only problem was its located in the AT&T skyscraper. That didn't stop us though. I found a nearby parking garage, paid $2 and went and enjoyed my chick fil-a. It was worth every bit of the parking fee.

17 weeks (March 2,2011)

It has been quite a long last couple of weeks but we are surviving together. Baby is getting bigger everyday. Seriously just kind of popped out over this week. So crazy. So amazing. So awesome. Diesel and I had to take this pic our self, Seth was out of town working hard for baby =)

16 weeks

February 23, 2010

Wow! What a couple of weeks. Starting the new job has been exhausting and nonstop. I have had to still work my full time shifts at Vanderbilt too. At one point I worked 12 days in a row with just one day off in between. Craziness. Saving up for our little one. =) So not much else has happened since the last post. Just sleeping and working. Good thing I have been feeling better. Seth has been sweet too, he has helped with dinner the past few nights. The other morning I got home and was telling him about the dinner plans for that evening, I gave him two different options based on what ingredients we had, one significantly simpler than the other. One involved putting some chicken in a pan, add some things on top and baking for one hour. The other, well, it was lasagna, so it was a much more detailed process and truthfully he was still half asleep when I was briefly explaining the options. That evening I woke up before work to a fabulously delicious homemade lasagna!! Who would of thought that would of been his choice. And  he already had everything cleaned up, it was just ready for me to eat and go to work. So sweet. Well, hopefully I won't go so long between my next posts. We are both excited about the baby, so fun =)

15 weeks

February 15th, 2010

Hello again, sorry we missed our 14 week post, but things are continuing to move forward and outward =) I am finally starting to show a little more. I was actually in the bathroom getting ready for work when Seth walked by and for the first time said "Woah, we need to take your picture." Ha He finally agreed that I really did have a little belly, no more convincing him to just pretend with me that it is really there. ha It was cute. So needless to say, here is fifteen weeks. Baby is as big as a navel orange. Growing bigger ever day, this week the baby is growing hair on its head and if he/she is anything like his Dad there will be lots =) I have finally gotten a little more energy and the nausea has finally taken it down quite a few notches. I started a new job this week too. I will now be able to pick up some extra hours back in the adult world. I started a PRN position at St. Thomas hospital in the Emergency Department, back to taking care of my adult patients. It's a fun change, both patient populations are soooo different, as I am sure you can only imagine. I like it though. My oldest brother Chris also came for a visit over the weekend. It was so fun getting to see him. We went downtown saw some people play some good music, had some good food, some yummy ice cream, played some foosball, it was good times. Him and a few people were on their way out to Colorado to go snowboarding for the week. Wish I was joining, but we still had fun hanging out downtown Nashville. I love when he comes to visit, we always have fun, no matter where we are or what we do! =)

13 weeks

Appetite still hasn't really come back yet, getting better every day. This week the biggest craving would probably have to be rice krispie treats. It's possible they might not have ever made it to the pan, just ate them right out of the bowl. =) Don't worry I shared some tho...with Diesel. Ha Who knew a dog would even eat that? Diesel seems to be trying to share in all my silly cravings these days. Including my continuous craving for sleep. I think he just doesn't want to be left out.

12 Weeks!

We are now 12 weeks and finally almost done with this adventure of a first trimester. Its getting more and more exciting everyday, especially as the nausea and exhaustion is finally starting to slow down, just a touch. I even have started to have a little baby bump, either its that or the purely macaroni and cheese diet I lived off for two weeks straight when nothing else was tolerable. ha. Either way, its fun =) The other night at work I was finished eating my lunch at around 0300 am, since that's when you eat on this crazy night shift schedule. I had a fruit by the foot, (remember those from packing lunches back in elementary school, I love them ha) that I wanted to save for a little bit later, like a pick me up around 0500 am. Well when I went to get it out of the drawer I put it in, it was gone and I said "Who ate my fruit by the foot?" and one of the nurses turned to the other and said "Chris, I told you not to eat that...I told him I was just kidding its totally fine. Then the girl turned again and said "you just stole food from a pregnant girl, that was for her baby." He suddenly was so serious and apologetic and said "I am so sorry I stole food from your baby, now its my fault if the baby is malnourished." We all started laughing, but he kept apologizing and now we just tease about it everyday. Silly boys and their awkwardness around pregnant girls. =)

First Ultrasound

We went to our first appointment on January 5th, I was nine weeks then. We had an ultrasound performed. Since about six weeks on to tell you the truth, probably the most miserable I have ever felt. The nausea was overwhelming and then of course comes the vomiting, and then the exhaustion. With all that just to say, all the excitement you want to be feeling is a little cloudy in these first weeks. Anyway,, actually seeing a live image of the baby was so cool, it made all the yuckiness kind of ok. It finally made you really feel pregnant. Seth was sitting in there with me too and it was so awesome to look over and see him smiling and just as happy as I was. We still won't know what we are having for quite a few more weeks but its all so exciting. We will be sure to keep you posted on how Baby Cain is doing.

Still Catching Up...

So in July Seth and I packed and up and moved to Nashville, TN. I got a job in the pediatric emergency department and Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and Seth was closer to the people he was working with for Faceless International. We stayed with Julia and Stephen for almost three months until we found a place of our own in East Nashville. We moved into our place in October, its a cute cottage style house built in the 1930's. Old wood floors, crown molding, sweet deck overlooking downtown, 2 bedrooms, 2 bath, its cute. We are having a lot of fun here, it is a neat city.

September
We celebrated my 25th birthday, still can't believe I am a quarter of a century old. Time flies. We had a lot of fun! Seth took me out to a fabulous dinner, then had some awesome gifts and then we ended the night with a relaxing glass a wine by the fire, we got a chiminea =)

 October
We finally had a roommate reunion actually back at a The Swamp. All the girls back together in Gville. It was lots of fun. We had our own tailgate on campus, then went to the game, (fun but bad ending gators). Always good to get together with those girls, we always have so much fun. I miss them all!
December 11, 2010
So on my way home from work one cold December morning, I made a special stop on my way home. We were going to a friends Christmas party that evening so I had to figure a few things out. Once I got home, both Seth and Diesel were already awake, having some coffee. I took a shower, had some breakfast and got ready for bed, my usually routine. This time though I had a special surprise for all of us. I was in our bathroom in our room and came out yelling to Seth, "I need you to come fix something." This wasn't really too unusual since our house was built in the 30's, ha. So Seth came running in and I had left him something on the counter. He came out holding the test reading "positive" saying with a big smile on his face, "I can't fix this." So exciting, we are going to have a baby. We both still can't believe it. =)

Christmas
Sharing the news with our families was very exciting, but of course always interesting. We got into Fort Myers to my parents at around 6 am Christmas morning after driving through the night from Nashville (really Seth did most the driving). We surprised them, they weren't expecting us until about 8 pm that night. We really couldn't wait to tell them, especially so my nausea didn't beat me to it. We gave my parents each a package, "a treat from Nashville," Seth called it. My parents couldn't believe their eyes when they each opened a personalized onesie for Grandpa and Grandma for Baby Cain. They were so excited and surprised and tearful and overjoyed. The trick was my parents both had to keep the secret until later when all my brothers and sisters got there so we could tell them all together, they got onesies too. This is where it gets good. Michael and Janine and Chris and the kids all come over and the boys are out throwing the football. I walk out into the yard, like always and hold up my hands to my Dad to throw me a pass. Standing out there are Seth, Michael and Chris. Dad looks at me ready to throw the ball and pauses saying, actually yelling, across the yard "I can't throw a football to a pregnant girl." Needless the say, my face turns bright red and both Michael and Chris are looking at me going "What? You're pregnant?" They too were excited, just not exactly how we planned out to break the news. Always interesting with my family, it was funny, Dad still can't believe he's the one that spilled the beans, he was certain it was going to be Mom, since he is convinced its her that can't keep a secret. So funny. Later that morning we went over the Seth's family and shared the news too. They all opened their onesies and were all surprised together like we planned. Christmas was fun, but a short trip since we had to get back to Nashville for work.

Lets play catch up

The first week of March 2010, Seth and I began our new adventure and moved just outside Philadelphia, PA to Chester Springs, where we would reside for the next 5 months. We were staying with some of our favorite people, Michael, Janine, Parker, and at the time the newest addition Reagan. I was going to be travel nursing and Seth was beginning full time work with Faceless International. I actually took a position at Michael's hospital, which as you can imagine was interesting, but fun =) I was working in the Emergency Department at Brandywine Hospital. When I first started there we kept it on the down low that I had any relation with any administration. However, its not exactly the biggest hospital so you could only guess I found myself both running into Michael, the CFO in the hallways, the cafeteria, and even found him on pictures on the hall billboards when standing with my fellow nurses. Needless to say, our secret didn't last long. But the initial rumors in my department were quite funny...I was there as a mole to administration, or I was the niece of the CEO, and so on. Quite funny. I really enjoyed working there though, met a lot of awesome people, it was a great department and hospital.

We had so much fun hanging out with our niece and nephew. Parker loved hanging out with his uncle Seth or as he called him, his "Guncle" or "Buckle". Parker loved Diesel too, whenever we would get home from running errands, Parker always would run into the house looking for "Guncle" and racing to let the dogs out, both Jack and "Dee-el" =) so cute. While we were there we saw lots of firsts for Reagan, she sure did grow up fast. They both did. Saw Reagan rollover, start to crawl and then even start to stand. So fun.  Parker looks like so much like Michael its crazy. Of course you know Janine and I had the best times of our life. I love that girl. We had so much fun together, all our trips to target and the mall and chick-fil-a and then target again, ha. And our cooking experiences, made some special banana bread didn't we? =) I miss living there! I miss all of them! We love you guys!

Seth painted Reagan's room, so talented =)
