Capulana

So Seth has been super excited about baby Ella and its so adorable. I love it. Last night he was talking about carrying her with him in a sling. After practicing with the blanket he remembered he had brought some authentic ones back home from Africa. In Africa the sling is called a "capulana". Good thing Diesel is a good sport because Seth wanted to practice.
And today he is in the process of hand crafting and sewing his own "capulana". He wants it to have a burlap outside with a soft and girlie lining. Its looking interesting now but I know it will be pretty cool when its done.

Ella's First Outfit

Mom and I went shopping of course the very next day. Some of the shopping was for me since I am starting to pop a little more, the clothes are getting a little snugger. But most importantly was the outfit for Ella. We were at Old Navy and Mom picked her out her first denim and I picked her out some pink converse. So little, so cute. We had fun shopping together, wish we lived closer.

Grand Ole Opry

We had tickets to attend the Grand Ole Opry with my parents. It's one of those things I think that you are suppose to do in Nashville. It was a fun night. First we took them to the Rose Pepper, a fun, local Mexican restaurant in East Nashville with the best margaritas, really ever. We had fun at dinner and then headed to the show, I was the DD of course. I guess I had to "un-retire" that for now for the baby, its ok though, she is worth it.
The show that night was a lot of fun. We had great seats and saw some talented legends play that night. During part of the show Seth and my Dad said they think they knew why it was called the Grand "OLD" Opry. ha ha Silly boys. It was still a lot of fun. We did get to see Terry Clark and Diamond Rio perform, both very good. It was a great evening out.

Today is the big day. March 11, 2011

My parents got into town late last night. The arrived in style as always and showed up in the RV. It was a long trip for them through the mountains and the yucky weather, but they made it. Today we went to have our gender ultrasound, a special treat from my parents. We got to the place that had a big screen on the wall with a couch sitting in front of it for my parents. I laid down in the back on a bed and Seth sat next to me. The tech dimmed the lights and squirted the gel on my belly saying first we will look for the baby's heartbeat. However, apparently baby had other plans and was up and rearing, literally, to reveal the gender and within about 10 seconds the tech had written on the screen and nonchalantly announced what the baby was. I was still looking for the heartbeat and Dad said he was waiting for popcorn, and well there it was. Our baby is going to be.........A GIRL!!! =)  It took a minute or two to sink in and once I could see her little heart fluttering we all were so excited and emotional as you can imagine. Seth and I are so happy, he is so sweet. It was such a fun experience and special that my parents could be there too. Lucky for us that it is a girl since that is the only name we could agree on. Her name will be Ella Rose Cain.
My Mom and I had gone to a cake decorating class earlier that morning. It was a lot of fun. The class ended up just being the two of us which was really cool. We had a lot of fun. My mom made a special cake that morning before we knew the gender of the baby. She did a beautiful job.

18 Weeks March 10, 2011

This week is exciting because my parents will be here over the weekend. We can't wait. The baby keeps growing and its awesome, there is no hiding the bump now, so fun. The baby is as big as a sweet potato. I had a funny craving this week. So I have been wanting Chick Fil-A all week and haven't really had much luck locating one that was an appropriate driving distance away. A friend at work who's wife had a baby not too long ago said that necessary cravings really should not be any further than a five mile drive for your husband. =) Lucky for me I found a Chick Fil-A downtown, the only problem was its located in the AT&T skyscraper. That didn't stop us though. I found a nearby parking garage, paid $2 and went and enjoyed my chick fil-a. It was worth every bit of the parking fee.

It has been quite a long last couple of weeks but we are surviving together. Baby is getting bigger everyday. Seriously just kind of popped out over this week. So crazy. So amazing. So awesome. Diesel and I had to take this pic our self, Seth was out of town working hard for baby =)

16 weeks

February 23, 2010

Wow! What a couple of weeks. Starting the new job has been exhausting and nonstop. I have had to still work my full time shifts at Vanderbilt too. At one point I worked 12 days in a row with just one day off in between. Craziness. Saving up for our little one. =) So not much else has happened since the last post. Just sleeping and working. Good thing I have been feeling better. Seth has been sweet too, he has helped with dinner the past few nights. The other morning I got home and was telling him about the dinner plans for that evening, I gave him two different options based on what ingredients we had, one significantly simpler than the other. One involved putting some chicken in a pan, add some things on top and baking for one hour. The other, well, it was lasagna, so it was a much more detailed process and truthfully he was still half asleep when I was briefly explaining the options. That evening I woke up before work to a fabulously delicious homemade lasagna!! Who would of thought that would of been his choice. And  he already had everything cleaned up, it was just ready for me to eat and go to work. So sweet. Well, hopefully I won't go so long between my next posts. We are both excited about the baby, so fun =)
